Systems for Marine Applications

When the outfitter of the world’s largest work vessel, the Pioneering Spirit, relies on our drive components, that means trust. The ship demonstrates the long-term demands it has to withstand: salt water, continuous operation, strong vibrations and limited service options.

Our couplings, brakes, coolers and hydraulic components are developed for marine use and certified by the leading classification societies ABS, Bureau Veritas, DNV GL and ClassNK. They are used, among other things, in azimuth drives as well as in winches and crane systems.

What sets KTR apart from other component suppliers is our large team of experienced technicians who work together with designers at shipyards and outfitters to develop solutions that withstand maritime requirements.

KTR-Komponenten für die Marine

ROTEX® couplings reliably isolate vibrations in bow thrusters from the rest of the vessel – noticeably and audibly, or rather not at all.

KTR-STOP® YAW brakes for crane systems on work vessels are specially adapted for marine use: with C5-M offshore coating, chemically nickel-plated components and metal-ceramic sintered friction linings that brake reliably even when in contact with lubricants.

Oil-air coolers of the OAC and OPC series are suitable for almost any application in stationary hydraulics. The compact, high-performance coolers are available in an ATEX-certified version.

GEARex® all-steel gear couplings are used across mechanical engineering wherever high operational reliability and long service life are required, thanks to reliable grease lubrication of the crowned gear teeth.

STOP-BLOCK-TURN systems consist of one or more disc brakes, locking elements and turning devices and are primarily used on propeller shafts in yachts, cruise ships and supply vessels.
