The Grundodrill HDD drilling rigs have mastered this method to perfection – with KTR components in the drivetrain and hydraulics.

When a road, a body of water or a railway line is in the way, utility installation still has to continue without digging everything up. That is exactly what the ‘Nodig method’ (“no digging”) stands for: trenchless pipe and cable installation, modelled on the way a mole works. The drill string enters the ground, bores underneath the obstacle and resurfaces on the other side. Modular in design, fully automated and engineered for pipe diameters of up to 1,100 millimetres, over distances of up to 700 metres.

For this to work reliably in day-to-day operation, the high-load drives need dependable components. That is why TRACTO relies on the BoWex flange couplings FLE-PA and FLE-PAC, which transmit torque directly to the flywheel via a positive connection while reliably protecting the adjacent components at the same time.

Customised MMC combination coolers are used to cool engine coolant, hydraulic oil and charge air – in some machine types, even in duplicate.
