VAROLASTIC FD is a progressive flange coupling that is characterized by its variable torsional stiffness. In the real operating range this characteristic always provides for an optimum torsional vibration condition: With small load torques it is particularly torsionally soft gaining torsional stiffness with increasing load to ensure the full power transmission. The progressive torsional stiffness characteristic curve is achieved by special elastomer rollers precisely guided and loaded in a convex-concave contour guide.The synthetical elastomers of VAROLASTIC FD allow for a maximum operating temperature of 120 °C permanently and up to 150 °C for a short time. Type FD is a particularly good choice for main drives susceptible to torsional vibrations.
Thanks to the customised adaptation of torsional stiffness to the respective tasks, VAROLASTIC FD supports the trend towards component standardisation as well.VAROLASTIC is available as a standard as type FD with anti-rotation device as well as for compatible flywheel connections and a number of hub connections.Extremely excessive torques generate a soft stop. In contrast to classic solutions this load point is dimensioned such that the elastomer rollers are protected against shearing resp. fracture while the coupling is still fully applicable.
