TOOLFLEX ZR is a double-cardanic metal bellow-type coupling with a an intermediate pipe welded on (intermediate shaft coupling). This cardan shaft is therfore optimally suitable for bridging large axial shaft distances.

Up to size 45 the hubs of the cardan shaft with metal bellow are made of aluminium, from size 46 from steel. The bellow is made of stainless steel, the intermediate pipe of steel.
The length of the intermediate pipe is freely selectable. The range includes both frictionally engaged connections without feather keyway and positive-locking connections with feather keyway.

Applications of the metal bellow-type coupling with intermediate shaft TOOLFLEX ZR:

Cardan shafts of KTR are used for bridging larger distances. The TOOLFLEX ZR metal bellow-type coupling with intermediate shaft covers a shaft distance of up to four metres without intermediate support and intermediate bearing.

The limits of application are defined by the operating speed and mounting length.

Torsionally stiff and flexible: TOOLFLEX metal bellow-type couplings

TOOLFLEX is a torsionally stiff and flexible metal bellow-type coupling (all-metal coupling) with a bellow made of stainless steel and coupling hubs made of aluminium.
The coupling hubs of our metal bellow-type coupling in size 55 and 65 and as a type KN are made of steel.

The metal bellow ensures optimum compensation of axial, radial and angular displacements with conformal torque transmission. At the same time the geometrical shape of the metal bellow-type coupling provides high torsion stiffness and a low mass moment of inertia. Apart from that it is resistant to media effects and critical operating conditions.

Operating principle of a bellow-type coupling:

The connection between bellow and hubs is made in three different versions: For sizes 5 to 12 the metal bellow is bonded to the hubs. That is why these sizes are permissible for ambient temperatures from -30 °C to +100 °C. For sizes 16 to 45 the bellow-hub-connection is generated by a flanged insert connection which ensures torque transmission of every single bellow layer. The bellow-hub-connection of sizes 55 and 65 is made by a welded connection.
