DKM is the double-cardanic type of ROTEX® GS. It is used on all those applications which have to compensate for big shaft displacements or bridge large shaft distance dimensions. ROTEX® GS DKM can be combined with the different hub types of ROTEX® GS.


Apart from the jaw-type geometry of the coupling hubs the zero backlash of the ROTEX® GS is mainly due to the geometry of the ROTEX® GS spiders. These are designed in a way that the convex teeth of the spider contact the concave jaws of the coupling hub under prestress. In combination with the straight toothing this results in a small surface pressure and an increased stiffness of the coupling system. 


The flexible spiders for the GS series are available in five different kinds of Shore hardness. The different kinds of Shore hardness allow to adjust ROTEX® GS easily to the individual conditions of an application with regard to torsional stiffness and vibration characteristics.

The flexible teeth are radially supported by a web on the inside diameter. In this way deformation caused by heavy acceleration or high speeds is prevented.

The permissible ambient temperature of the coupling depends on the Shore hardness of the spider.


This type is certified and confirmed according to EC standard 94/9/EC (ATEX 95) as unit of category 2G/2D and thus suitable for the use in hazardous areas of zone 1, 2, 21 and 22.

Addition: If clamping ring hubs (clamping hubs without keyway are only permitted for category 3) are used in hazardous areas the coupling must be designed in a way that between the peak torque including all operating parameters and the torque of frictional engagement and the nominal torque of the coupling, resp., there is a safety of at least s=2.
