The torsionally flexible shaft coupling POLY-NORM® ADR-BTA is a shaft coupling provided with a brake drum based on the plant. The POLY-NORM type ADR-BTA is intended as a holding brake.

Please note with combinations of shaft coupling with brake drum the high circumferential speed that may result. With high-speed drives KTR recommends dynamic balancing from 30m/s. The brake drum is positioned on the driven side where the highest mass moment of inertia is effective.

Applications of our torsionally flexible, fail-safe shaft coupling with brake drum (drum brake):
This POLY-NORM® ADR-BTA combination of coupling and brake is used wherever holding brakes are required, e. g. on conveyor belts and generators. Applications with minor specifications can be combined with POLY-NORM GJL hubs.

Shaft coupling and brake by KTR:
Our customers benefit from being supplied from one single source. There is the option to develop the brake as well. Our brakes are available hydraulically (KTR-STOP) or electromechanically (EMB-STOP) activated .

POLY-NORM® shaft couplings are characterized by a compact design. The torque is transmitted via elastomers between the cams also serving to offset displacements and dampen shocks and torsional vibrations.

Operation of fail-safe shaft coupling:
The POLY-NORM shaft coupling consists of two hubs half the cams of which are each inserted in the tailor-made free spaces of the other hub.

This compact design of the shaft coupling allows to connect the shafts with a particularly short shaft distance dimension. The elastomer positioned between the cams transmits the torques while compensating for any kind of displacement.

Variation of components of fail-safe shaft coupling:
High adaptability with low variance through an optimally differentiated construction kit system: The elements within one size of POLY-NORM® shaft coupling can easily be combined with each other. This allows to realize various shaft distances with the same basic component.
