For bridging large shaft distance dimensions there is the type ZR1 being one out of three intermediate shaft couplings. It is available from size 14 to 38. The intermediate pipe is adjusted to the customer’s shaft distance dimension indicated. As an alternative the intermediate pipe can be supplied by the customer. The clamping hubs on the intermediate pipe can be axially shifted on the intermediate pipe which allows for a radial assembly or disassembly without the need for shifting the driving and driven unit. The external coupling hubs can be selected from the hub programme of ROTEX® GS.

Performance

Apart from the jaw-type geometry of the coupling hubs the zero backlash of the ROTEX® GS is mainly due to the geometry of the ROTEX® GS spiders. These are designed in a way that the convex teeth of the spider contact the concave jaws of the coupling hub under prestress. In combination with the straight toothing this results in a small surface pressure and an increased stiffness of the coupling system. 

Spiders

The flexible spiders for the GS series are available in five different kinds of Shore hardness. The different kinds of Shore hardness allow to adjust ROTEX® GS easily to the individual conditions of an application with regard to torsional stiffness and vibration characteristics.

The flexible teeth are radially supported by a web on the inside diameter. In this way deformation caused by heavy acceleration or high speeds is prevented.

The permissible ambient temperature of the coupling depends on the Shore hardness of the spider.
