About us

Since 1959 KTR has gone from being a relatively small manufacturer in Germany to having over 20 well-established subsidiaries around the world, making it one of the only coupling manufacturers in the world with its own global sales and service network, research and development facilities and in house engineering expertise.
The company’s first creation in 1959 was the BoWex® curved tooth coupling with nylon sleeve, which introduced the concept of maintenance free couplings. In 1967 KTR developed the ROTEX® shaft coupling range of torsionally flexible couplings, and they have since seen the brand go from strength to strength.
KTR Couplings Ltd opened in Sheffield in 1999 to provide a better service and more local contact to its existing and future customer base in the UK and Ireland. The company is well equipped to find cost effective solutions for all power transmission needs, not only with standard couplings, but also in providing solutions for customers’ individual technical requirements by modifying stock parts or producing prototypes for bespoke situations.
There are over 30,000 different products available from stock, with the KTR company product catalogue showing only 40% of the product range considered as standard products. The remaining 60% are manufactured to their customers’ requirements.
Other areas of expertise include hydraulic components – including bellhousings, damping elements, oil coolers, tank heaters and accessories; steel tanks – either standard off the shelf or bespoke tanks; torque limiters; torque measurement and clamping elements.
KTR is widely considered as the driving force behind the development of the worldwide coupling market producing world class power transmission components. The company supply to a wide range of markets sectors including construction, industrial pumps, marine, hydraulics, rail and wind turbine technology, power machines and power transmission.
